Anybody ever fish them before? I've read both can get some decent sized fish in the spring but timing it just right can be hard.
I seem to remember reading that if you can time the taylor for the flying ant hatch it can be really good?
Anybody got any info?

I have been told that the Taylor fishes best in the Spring for good sized cutts. I think they drop down from somewhere. I have stopped by for a swim in the summer comming back from Tofino and saw lots of little fish and a few rising, this would of been in june or july.
I'm also pretty sure the elk river has a good run of little lake rainbows, i think early summer-june is best for that.
Could be off or completely wrong with all of that but i think my memory hasn't completely failed me yet.

Elk River, take a light fly rod, 2..3 or 4 wt. full float and a dry fly (small) and have a ball. Fished it last year early, the day was a bit windy but sunny and had a great time catching and releasing.

M/Missile, fished the Elk around the end of the first week of May last year. My buddy played with his camera for some underwater shots, it's weird cause you don't hear the shutter and are not even sure if you have taken a picture. Have fun and we all await your report.

I am taking a couple of days off the week after next to fish the Elk for the first time. What do you tend to do - hike in along the trail and camp, or stay somewhere else and drive in for the day and fish?
Thanks
