hi... lived on the west coast for a few years and recently got a boat. im really stoked on bucktailing/fly fishing for coho . was wondering if anyone has any tips/tecniques for bucktailing . also if anyone has any current fishing info for tofino area to share would be totally appreciated. i went out once last week inside but didnt have any luck or even see many fish or bait. i have a small boat with no radar so not too into going too far offshore. something about this type of fishing is quite appealing as its fishing in its simplest form....seems nowadays anyone can catch fish with gps and dragging commercial gear this seems a bit more old school and sporting. yes i drag gear to not trying to offend anyone but really would like to learn the ropes...any advice would be epic. thanks

fish with a slow troll, fly in the prop wash, maybe 20' back, close to the kelp, real close, rod in holder pointed straight back, listen for the run :), great fun for sure

These are what I use-the small spinner blades increase hookups exponentially.

However there need to fish around-Coho numbers are down all over this year so don't be put off yet.

Also I don't point the rod tip back but have it off the side down low-if it drags in the water from time to time no problem.

Jerking the fly once in a while can cause following fish to pounce-an old trick-as is speeding up/slowing down.
