I have a Costco Talia 1050 vacuum sealer, over the years it seems to have lost some oomph. Any one have a suggestion for a good quality vacuum sealer? I would rather spend a bit more on a quality unit rather than bin another cheapy.
Thanks
Alan

Guys in Alaska swear by Cabela's house brand units.

We have had a Pro 2300 for a couple years and love it. And it will crush empty pop/beer cans just like in the video

Cheers,

I just purchased a unit from the Professional Market Group (http://www.vacuumpacker.com) . I think if you go to their website and see what they offer you might also be impressed. I purchased the stainless Elite along with several cases of bags. I was asked by another person about vacuum baggers and, after talking to the owner, he bought the Vacupac. When I asked why he said the professional fashion his questions were answered, along with a full service shop with parts made the decision easy. I would agree. Take a look and I think you will too!

The one problem with the 2300 unit is that it has a bottom feed which allows water into the pump. This is not condusive to longevity. The Vacupac has a plastic pump while the Vacupac Elite has a stainless pump with a high placed nozzle which will not allow water in as well as a water filter. Bulletproof. Yes...mine costs a bit more than the run of the mill Costco units but it will last me the rest of my days and parts/service are close.

A simple solution to that is to wrap each piece of fish in a paper towel-doesn't take much more time neither does it affect the taste of the fish.

Or just put the fish in the freezer for a few hours....

Also my pump (2300) has a raised ridge around it to reduce any liquids that my enter it.

Two years and so far no problems, and that includes fish, pepperoni, jerky, vegetables, bread and pretty well anything else that we freeze.

Cheers
