No, not much bait showing ..
we fished 3.5 hours for 5 hits, lost one and got the rest.
not on fire by any means, but there are some around. ;)

Saturday was like a spring day, flat water and sun shining...
caught & released a 20lb halibut , 2 springs in the boat 13 & 10.
the larger one jumped twice which is unusual for a winter fish.
3 bites, 3 fish. ;)

Caught this nice 16lb Yellow Dot off waterfront Jan 20 on a Haze squirt.
I've caught many YD's over the years and some old timers have told me they are Cowichan River hatchery fish but there is nothing definitive.
Anybody have any info?

Curious as to why you call that a yellow dot? Where is the yellow dot.

Usually close to the anal fins..
we have caught them at Renfrew before.
there was speculation that it was a marking of some kind, but
i believe it's genetic.

When a salmon nears freshwater sources the sea lice drop off that usually attach near the anal fin. The markings left behind are a bit off colour to yellow, maybe that is all it is?
