Sorry to hear.

According to the article I guess the weather just crept up on them and got real bad, real fast. Three meter swells sound pretty gnarly.

Boat found but not the people, from the Vancouver Sun:

VANCOUVER - A fishing boat chartered by four men missing since Monday has been found capsized off the coast of Vancouver Island but there is no sign of the men onboard.

The boat was found in calm waters six miles off the Brooks Peninsula on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island, said spokesman Quentin Wyne of the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre.

The vessel was found and reported to the JRCC by the sport fishing boat, Fish Tamer IV, shortly before 1:15 Saturday afternoon, he said.

The RCMP and Coast Guard were still in the process of righting the vessel early Saturday evening.

Once set upright again, the boat will be towed ashore for further investigation, Wyne said.

“The search is continuing today and tomorrow and is being focused in the area,” said Wyne. “Currently we have a Canadian Forces Buffalo aircraft and a Cormorant helicopter in the area, as well as the Coast Guard and RCMP vessels.”

A shoreline search is also being conducted along the peninsula, he said.

The four missing men are fishing guide Kevin Sturgess, 36, and three sports fishermen in their 50s — Peter Idlewine of Brush Prairie, Wash., Gary Evans of Vancouver, Wash., and his brother Tony Evans of Portland, Ore.

My most sincere apologies. My Friend and myself were fed erroneous information when I made the post above. I do not yet know what the motive for that was, but it certainly was not funny in any way. My error was in being a little too quick to believe what I was told, and then I furthered that by posting before I could confirm. For this I humbly apologize, especially to the Families and friends.

I have been at sea every day since and have not heard any further news than they did find the boat, rolled over and well offshore. I would appreciate it if anyone here that has any further news please fill me in. I am still holding faint hope...

Embarrassed as hell,
Matt

My condolences to the familys.
Yesterdays "alberni times" reported that the family of Mr. sturgess is giving the lodge a bit of troubles because of their not having a "emergency gps beacon".
It really is scary hearing about a west coaster being presumed drowned. It's to bad we won't really know what happened to the men, cause I highly doubt it was just the boat flipped and they got trapped and drowned.
