Took a day off and went for a fish out to Winter Harbour for the day.

Ran out to Kains and dropped the lines, quickly picked up a 20 lbs spring and 10 lbs coho. After a couple more tacks, as we decided to head outside and see what was around, bang off goes the top line and soon a 26 lbs fish is in the boat. Off we go to the outside. Down goes a plug and spoon, 2 minutes later, a double header, 21 and 18 in the boat. After that it was pretty consistant as we caught our limit of 6. We released a bunch, including a fish around 35. It was awesome fishing!!

After and hour and half out there we ran back in to Kains to pick up some more coho. One more in the boat and a couple more released springs we decided to head for Cliffe.

Here I picked up a beauty 13 lbs coho with the Northern Look. It took a bit but we filled out limit of coho and headed home.

A few picks from the day

Springs were from 16 to 36 lbs and most were taken on Tomic Plugs and Spoons.
Coho's were from 5 to 13 lbs and were taken on Green Glow teaser heads and an itty bitty pink squirt

It was a great day and the weather gods held off until the afternoon.

Will be back out there Sat/Sun as the weather looks like it might be good.

Cheers

SS

Right on Ken :D !!! Great report, nice fish, and great photos. By the sounds of some of your posts on other forums I would say you deserved to take the day off and go fishing 8-) . I'd call that a mid week wonder  Congrats on the haul.

Cheers
John

P.S. What's with the tupperware boat  !

Fished WH 10 -12 aug, very rough seas, awesome fishing for springs, smallest 28, (1st one ) the rest all over 30. Limits of cohoe, average 12-14 lbs, biggest 17. Did not fish for halis, to rough for me. Left for home first light fri am, took fish to Campbell River seafoods, and canned 4 cases. Left for WH early on the 14, caught our limit of halis, then fished for springs. Wow, where did they go? Lots of cohoe, got our limit came in for BBq steak. Fished early 15th, limit on halis right away, hunted for springs, caught one small one, a bleeder, so kept it, smaller then the cohoes, limited on them, average about 14. Left for home at 1300hrs. Home at 1655hrs. Next report with paragrahs. BTW the seas were flat calm on the 14 & 15, never seen it so good out there.....BB

Fishing Report WH, 22-24 aug. Fair number of springs on sunday, low pressure system moved in monday, may have caused poor spring fishing monday and tuesday. Only caught 3 springs those days, and all out off Lippy, 200 - 260'. However lots of large Coho, 12- 16lbs. Large schools of sockeye moving through and managed to catch 3 on chinook gear, large gator back hootchy, go figure, also got one on herring. Left WH 1515hrs tuesday, arrived home tired at 1945 hrs. ........BB
