Open question for anyone. Sooo...If someone wanted to fish for winter springs, where would you recommend?

Well you could start by looking in the water...... and deeper along the bottom (might help if we knew the general area that you were planning)

Tough to say..... If there is feed in tight there might be a chance. When the herring show up of the water front in the spring you might be able to intercept one. Other then that you have be lucky and have bait within casting distance from any chosen spot. Generally you drag bottom in 100ft+ water... they will hit anything if they are there and food is the first place to look.

good luck from shore, feeder springs generally hang deep and very close to bottom in the easy water.they feed voraciously when they are on the bite.I fish off sooke where the winter fishing is better than average .Still it is hard enough getting 'on the fish'per say, with a good westcoast boat and the very best of gear, but it sure helps and makes it comfortable ,with a cabin and heat.my advice is to get a boat or fish the lakes and rivers for trout and steelhead until the runs start in late spring.SS out

why don,t you try going after some steelhead in the cowichan.this is a shore access fishery .I highly recommend it.Dink floats and pink worm or art.roe works.I fly fish for steelies, how ever you need a boat to fly fish effectively .Covering water on the drift so to say.

South end of Quadra Island on a ebb tide, Willow Point on flood and Shelter Point on a ebb tide. All three will produce springs until early Feb, then the herring movement to the south will move the salmon........BB
